Jay on filming: "Yeah, it was great, but it was cold in Mexico though. You think of Mexico you would think it would be warm and sunny every day, but we was on the other side, like the north coast. It was freezing. She's [Beyonce] a trooper, she's amazing like, for her to be in a bikini in that weather, I couldn't do it."

He also won Best Male Hip Hop that year...If I see Kid Rock I'll beat his ass for forgetting the lyrics, Jay played it well though...Anyway the performance was rocked out with Shelia E. on the drums, Dave on the guitar, The Roots...The entire show was actually hot! :)

IN STORES NOW) of Jay getting his LL on, as he likes to say...It orginally comes at the end of 'Song Cry', its really hot...Check him out with the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Live 8 Performances w/ Linkin Park
The most memorable thing for me about this performance was that it was a couple of days after Jay's nephew died, so I was really wondering how he was taking it and if he would do the show or not. I sat through all these other acts on MTV early that morning waiting for Jay to hit the stage later on that afternoon only to have the electricity go out on me for an hour. :( OMG I thought I was gonna MISS it, but luckily everything came back on just a couple mins. before Jay hit the stage. When he came on I couldn't get the VCR to work in time to record so that made me mad. I later had to search Linkin Park forums cause I knew they would be on their A-Game. (Shout out to LP Forums)...I was just real happy to see dude on the stage. MTV showed his entire set with Linkin'Park, the crowd was into that much (chanting Hova Hova, throwing the Roc sign in the air, one dude even had a big a$$ poster of Jay.) :) It was smashing hehe, defintely the best. That's not just coming from me. Now of course Live 8 is for a good cause, to raise money for a treatment for Aids. Hov delivered one of the best messages of the night: "You know they spending billions and billions of dollars to kill people, we can spend billions and billions of dollar to help people live." Now, "Let's Play Some Music Man" Enjoy!

. . .Throw-back interview: session features an excited Jay-Z as he chops it up with Westwood (UK Radio Host), shortly before the release of Reasonable Doubt. A lotta memories on this one, remember when Hov was talking about “this is gonna be my only album”? Speaking of broken promises. . . (Best promise he ever broke :) )
But back to Jay, during this interview it's clear that he's enjoying the initial success of “Ain’t No Nigga” as it began tearing up the clubs, and he’s brimming with confidence when discussing his soon-to-be classic debut. He also touches on speaks about his early days rolling with The Jaz, and introduces a little label by the name of Rocafella Records before he drops a couple of verses over Funkmaster Flex rocking doubles of Sadat X’s “Stages and Lights” beat.

Charli (Roc), is probably most known as a moderator from Jay-Z Fanboard since its early beginnings in 2004. She started Roc With Me because there was no other site at the time that had a large archive of Jay V.I.P. “Everyone has their favorites, it’s always fun to watch videos and listen to their interviews, and sort of reminisce, especially when they’ve had a great career like Jay,” says Charli. “I just wanted to share what I had with other fans.” She just didn’t search the Internet for goodies, but she searched through her personal tape collection to capture performances for the fans. “I used to be big on recording stuff, especially award shows and even the littlest things,” she says. She admits that uploading and trying to maintain a site can be a hassle. The biggest reward comes from knowing that someone else is actually enjoying what she’s doing. “One thing I realized is how international Jay and Hip Hop are. He has fans just about everywhere. So it was really cool when people from London, Germany, France, and even Africa would thank me for uploading these videos and things because they barely got to see him on television or hear him on the radio as much as people from the states do.” Over the last couple of months Charli, who is almost a college graduate, decided to change her focus a little. She appointed, fellow Jay-Z fan, Focus as a staff member on the site. “He’s from London; he would e-mail me stuff and drop things in my c-box. When I went on hiatus he would still come through. So I was like why not add him as part of the team.”
THE FUTURE
Charli says she often wishes Roc With Me was a full pledged fan site. “I don’t know of many other ones [for Jay] and I actually had to design a website as a final exam for a class I recently took. So I’ve become more aware of how things work on that end. I’d loved to have a site where there’s a big gallery of pictures and also a new domain. But I’m not trying to pay for anything just yet,” she says laughing. Concerning updates she says, “It’s not like Jay’s on TV everyday, so updates with things such as videos, interviews, and performances are definitely going to be slow, but he always has some big shit popping whether rapping or not,” she says. “Can’t be mad at that!”
